Download This is a lesson plan for the first day introducing the Arabic alphabet to Level 1 students. It is designed using the "5 E's" method of teaching and contains a lesson plan for allowing students to explore and make discoveries about the Arabic writing system. The lesson uses authentic resources (images of signs and labels with cognates in Arabic writing (ex. Starbucks and Burger King logos in Arabic), and children's books and magazines in Arabic). Then, it introduces the first letter taught in the curriculum (the letter ب). The lesson concludes with an exit ticket. Supporting resources for the lesson include a handout and a set of PowerPoint slides for the lesson.
