Déjà vu? An Analysis on the Holocaust and the Syrian Refugee Crisis

Through this lesson plan, students will analyze how the Holocaust and the Syrian Refugee Crisis relate. Students will evaluate the question: How does history/historical events inform contemporary issues?

This lesson was originally created for middle school world geography but can be easily adapted for elementary and high school classes.

This resource was created during a QFI-sponsored workshop, in collaboration with the University of Oklahoma, the National Council for History Education, and Georgetown University’s Institute for the Study of International Migration, “The Middle East Refugee Crisis in Historical Context: Teaching for Understanding” held June 21-23, 2016 in Norman, Oklahoma
