In this lesson, students will explore the different aspects of hosting an international sporting event using Qatar as the case study. Students will read a variety of articles to recognize the costs and benefits of hosting an international sporting event and discuss with each other whether or not the costs outweigh the benefits.

This lesson is intended for secondary school students and can be used in a social studies or geography class. It takes approximately 3-4 classes to be fully implemented.
