Lesson Plan: Examining Stereotypes of Arab Americans

In this lesson, students will analyze the stereotypes that exist surrounding Arab Americans. By using readings and student-led discussions, students will be introduced to the history of Arab American stereotypes, how they have changed over time, and the influence of current affairs and the media. Overall, students will better understand the concept of stereotypes and the negative ways they impact society. This lesson is designed for secondary school students and can be implemented in either two fifty-minute class periods or one or two ninety-minute periods.
