This unit explores the cost of food, how communities react if food is not within their reach, and how policies and organizations impact the cost of food. It aims to educate students about the many factors that affect access to food; the terminology associated with the geography and politics of food; and the political consequences of governmental and international food policies. Students will ultimately learn that access to food has been a struggle for communities in the US, Egypt, and other countries all around the world. This unit is designed for upper primary and secondary school students can can be implemented in seven to ten forty-five minute class periods.
