This unit aims to help students understand what Ramadan is, and more specifically, how fasting is a ritualistic and religious custom in different parts of the world. By the end of the unit, students will be able to describe the month of Ramadan and its symbols and practices. Additionally, students will be able to compare Ramadan and fasting customs among different countries in the Middle East with those in the United States.
This unit is designed for secondary school students at the intermediate-mid/intermediate-high level of Arabic, as the unit plan includes activities and resources in Arabic. It takes approximately 3 weeks to fully implement.
