Refugees Around the World

Through this lesson plan, students will evaluate the essential question: How are refugee experiences unique and how are they universal? Students will learn about the refugee crisis in a more personal narrative and watch video clips depicting daily experiences of refugees.

This lesson was originally created for high school humanities but can be easily adapted for elementary and middle school language arts classes.

This resource was created during a QFI-sponsored workshop, in collaboration with the University of Oklahoma, the National Council for History Education, and Georgetown University’s Institute for the Study of International Migration, “The Middle East Refugee Crisis in Historical Context: Teaching for Understanding” held June 21-23, 2016 in Norman, Oklahoma.
